About the artist

Zanna Smith is an artist, writer, and educator. This archive gathers her paintings alongside her writing, talks, and life photographs — a place to see her work in one collection.

Her paintings move between luminous landscapes — lakes, shorelines, and wildflower meadows — and vivid abstraction, in colors that carry a lot of light.

A note on names, for anyone searching her work: Zanna's full name is Susannah Woolsey Smith (born Susannah Smith). She presented and published as Susannah Ganus from 1967 through the 1980s, and is also known as Zanna and, affectionately, Dr ZaSm. Her paintings and writing may appear under any of these names — they are all hers.
