Teal Butterfly Over a Wildflower Meadow

Zanna Smith

This mixed media painting combines watercolor or water-soluble crayon washes with fine ink linework to depict a large teal-and-green butterfly gliding above a loose meadow of orange, purple, and magenta blossoms. The pale yellow ground is left largely open at the top, giving the butterfly room to hover above the dense band of flowers along the lower edge.
