Yes, although much of my childhood was in a dysfunctional home. It is so important to look at any negative memory, and at the stories you have told yourself about this event. What parts are true at this moment? Too often we dwell on the negative stories of our past as if they define us and our present being.

It is so important to look at any negative memory, and at the stories you have told yourself about this event. What parts are true at this moment? Too often we dwell on the negative stories of our past as if they define us and our present being. It is possible, instead, to look at the positive growth which may have happened because of the negative event, or can still happen today.
Due to physical or mental abuse in childhood, for example, one person can learn compassion and depth of understanding of other people who are being hurt, and can become a healer of yourself and a facilitator of healing in others.
